Book of Azurria, Chapter 1 « Thread Started on Aug 14, 2007, 2:43pm »
For a thousand years the Grand Republic of the Azurrian have stood. The principles of honor, and loyalty, first set down by the first lord Azurr. The Grand Republic has created a world of peace, yet darkness lurks in the farthest reaches. A threat is growing... And soon, the war will come...
It has been three months sence the traitor Vulpuz escaped from the Knights of Terra. The Irean have been quiet as well, not attack with the normal furosity that had been seen in the years since the formation of the knights. The Azurrian leaders deny that the war has been happening, living in the center of there republic, in a bissful ignorance of the world. The Knights had seen the hardships of combat and fighting. Tirta was a young knight, only just making it into the ranks of the Knights. Quietly he walked outside. The Knights had been waiting for summer, so that the could enter the mountains of North (Mossflower's Northern Mountains) and finally defeat the Irean rebels. Out of the corner of Tir's eye, he noticed someone there...

Naoki wandered outside after Tirta. The weasle looked out over the lands before him, thinking. The northern snowcapped mountains stood out in the afternoon's azure sky. The rebels seemed to be hiding for some reason or other, but Naoki wasn't at all sure why.
"What do you think those rebels are up to? They haven't made a move in forever. I almost wish that they would try something."
He had been eager for action, but the lul in the Irean's retaliation and it began to unease him slightly. He pawed the leather- bound hilt his sword as if he were ready to fight anything that moved with only an instant's notice.

Tir turned his head, looking up to Naoki. The black colored squirrel nodded. "Ya...Them Ireans hava' been hiddin' for a whil'." replied Tir, his voice heavy with an accant. "Tha'y musta' be fearin' fightin' us, aren't they." Tir smiled slightly as he turned to look at Naoki.

Noaki put the idea out of his head as soon as it was suggested. "Vulpuz is different. He wouldn't fear us like that. He out there, doing something that will undoubtably succeed in some way or another. I don't rtust him to sit and do nothing..."

"Vulpuz...He wu's the best...I still can't believe it..." replied Tir as he looked at Naoki. "I looke' up ta' 'em... He was a hero...A Legen'..." Tir had never gotten over Vulpuz's betrayal of the Knights of Terra. He greatly respected Vupluz, in fact he worshipped the very ground that the great warrior had walked on. Tir looked down for a moment before looking back to Naoki. "Wha' was e'he like?"

Nao stiffened slightly. "He was a jerk." He was still hurt by Vulpuz decision to leave them. Though they were rivals, they had still had respect for each other... Until Vulpuz left. Naoki didn't want to admit his one-time freindship with his newfound enemy.

Tir looked up for a moment. "Really?!" replied Tir in an almost suprised manner. Vulpuz had been Idellized by many young soldiers as a hero. Hearing Naoki suprised Tir's prior thoughts about Vulpuz. "I ne'er knew..."

"He was too full of himself and didn't respect other's much. He was a great warrior, but now he's just an enemy. If I came to him in battle I wouldn't hesitate to kill him just the way that he wouldn't hesitate to kill me." Naoki had a a strange faraway look in his eyes when he spoke. The look seemed to have both sorrow and hate, but most of all it contained a look of stoney resolution.
"He is an enemy now, Tirta. You must hate him as he hates us or you will risk becoming like him... an enemy."

Tirta looked down for a moment before speaking up. "I would die to defend our brethren, our people. I will destroy my enemy as my enemy would to me..." replied Tir. He glanced away to the mountain top for a moment. "When are we going to go up there to fight Vulpuz?" Tir wondered outloud.

Noa continued to stare at the mountains, mulling over the matter. "I don't know, really... I'm not in any hurry to go up there yet, though. I don't beleive that we have enough people to pull off a successful attack. After another moment of hesitation he asked. "Do you beleive that Vulpuz would marry or have a family?"
